Finding a Good Dementia Care Home:

A guide for you and your loved one

Finding a Care Home for someone that you love and who has dementia can be one of the most difficult things you will ever have to do.

Not everyone who lives with dementia will need to move into a Care Home. But for those who need the level of care, support and safety they provide; moving into a Care Home is a life changing experience for everyone involved.

This is why we have written this guide. As a group of professionals and family carers we have personal experience of caring for someone we love with dementia and finding a Care Home for them. Our experiences are all unique but we have one experience we share…none of us felt that we had the support, information and knowledge we needed to help us find a good Care Home at the time.

We have pooled our knowledge, thoughts and ‘benefit of hindsight’ to put this guide together and maybe fill in some of the gaps you need to help you find a good Care Home.

We hope that it will be useful to you as you start your journey.
